Enugu State is a state in southeastern Nigeria created on 27 August 1991 (Enugu State was formed from part of old Anambra State), it borders Abia State and Imo State to the South, Ebonyi State to the East, Benue State to the North-East, Kogi State to the North-West and Anambra State to the West. Its capital is Enugu.
The State is nicknamed the “Coal City’’ owes its geopolitical significance to the discovery of coal in 1909 by a team of British geologists. It is also the highest melon seed producing state in the country.
